In 2005, Derek Cardinell joined NBS corporate management as the new VP Sales & Marketing. After obtaining a B.S. in Electrical & Computer Engineering and a Masters in Systems Engineering and Project Management from Cornell University, Derek worked as a Senior Accounts Manager with a national IT Provider.
Company History
NBS entered the IT industry in 1981 as a Wang Word Processing Dealer providing sales, service and support to legal, financial and medical institutions throughout New York’s Capital District region. NBS also ran a large Word Processing service bureau in downtown Albany, NY for assisting students with resumes and lawyers who could not yet afford their own systems. Wang Word Processing was the industry standard and NBS was one of the premiere dealers in New York.
By 1983, it was clear there was an emerging market for the IBM PC standard and NBS’ company structure adapted by offering industry specific sales, support and technical staff for the following:
Accounting: In 1984, NBS became a dealer for the leader in accounting software, RealWorld. RealWorld Business and Accounting solutions where offered on stand alone or networked PC’s and for larger customers, UNIX Operating System. NBS still maintains and supports a large diverse base of RealWorld customers.
Design Drafting: NBS was approved by AutoDesk to represent their industry leading AutoCAD for design drafting and engineering professionals. NBS significantly expanded its engineering customer base by adding sales and support for Hewlett Packard’s Wide Format Engineering Plotters.
Retail & Wholesale: In 1987, NBS became an authorized dealer for Synchronics award winning business management software, CounterPoint. NBS maintains a full sales, service and support staff for this rapidly growing industry segment and is one of Synchronics leading dealers.
